Director pursuant to the combined provisions of the By-Laws, Ministerial Decree 169/2020, Italian Legislative Decree 58/1998 (Consolidated Law on Finance) and the Corporate Governance Code

Donatella Visconti has been an independent Director of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. since April 2023, where she is also a member of the Appointments Committee and the Related Party Transactions Committee.

She graduated in Law from the University of La Sapienza, Rome.

She then completed Master’s programmes in "Associative Development and Lobbying" (Confindustria), "Negotiation and Management of the Financial Network" (San Paolo Invest and San Paolo di Torino), "Institutional Relations" (Running S.p.A., Gruppo Reti) and attended courses in Managerial Development Team Building, Strategies and Communication.

She has been a lecturer for several University Master’s courses and a speaker at various conferences.

She was awarded the diploma of Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Giorgio Napolitano and is a Commendatore of the Italian Republic, appointed by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.

She has management experience in complex activities; she has worked in banks, insurance companies, public/private capital companies in regulated sectors of both national and multinational private sector companies; she is an expert in strategy, planning and structural organisation and has expertise in institutional areas. 

A Legal officer in the National Association of Building Constructors (Confindustria), from 1987 to 1988 she was Sales Manager in Fideuram S.p.A. - IMI and Marketing Manager in San Paolo Invest S.p.A. from 1989 to 1991.

From 1991 to 1994, she set up the Finance Department at Cefor S.p.A., a company specialising in strategic consultancy and development for cooperative banks; subsequently, from 1994 to 1998, she was Head of Large Corporates (BNL, Arthur Andersen&co, Renault etc.) at Dynargie Italia S.r.l., a Franco-Swiss multinational active in consultancy for private companies and public bodies.

Founder of Visconti & Partners S.r.l., a management consultancy firm, she was its Director from 1998 to 2003.

From 2000 to 2005, she held a consulting position as Head of Institutional Relations at Farmafactoring S.p.A.

From 2003 to 2010 she was Director of Institutional Relations of the Italian branch of Les Laboratoires Servier, a French multinational pharmaceutical research and production company, first as a consultant and then as General Manager. 

In 2013, she was an advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Navy on strategies for the development and improvement of the naval and national economy. 

From 2011 to 2014 she was Chairperson of Banca Impresa Lazio S.p.A. (Region of Lazio, Unicredit, BNL, IntesaSan Paolo, BCC Roma) and founder and President of a coordination body between regional banks and financial institutions with mixed public-private capital.

From 2015 to 2016 she was Deputy Chairperson of Assicurazioni Roma, a mutual insurance company subject to IVASS supervision, and member of the Executive Committee.

From 2018 to 2020, she was a member of the Board of Directors of Banca del Sud, where she chaired the Committee of Independent Directors and Related Parties.

In the XVIII legislature (2020) she was the Technical Secretariat of the Presidency of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the Banking and Financial System, a bicameral body composed of senators and deputies.

She was Chairperson of Asso112 - Associazione Confidi Italiani - until September 2023 and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Assoholding and Advisor to the President of the Observatory on Policies for the Fight against Economic Crime of the CCIAA - Rome, as well as a member of the Advisory Board of the Italian Branch of 1OAK Financial Group.
