Enrico Ciai

Economics Degree from La Sapienza University of Rome, Certified Public Accountant and Registered Auditor.

Mr. Ciai joined the Andersen organization in 1981 where he developed his professional career in the financial services Industry of the Auditing firm (Arthur Andersen S.p.A.), acquiring significant experience in the banking and insurance sectors as Auditor and Advisor. He became Manager in 1986 and Partner in 1995.

In 2002, following an integration agreement, Andersen became part of the Deloitte Network and adopted its brand name.

Following the integration, he became a member of the Board of Directors of Deloitte & Touche S.p.A. (an auditing firm that is part of the Deliotte Network), where he continued to be involved in auditing activities, particularly in the banking and insurance sectors. 

Until July 2003 he served as CEO of Deloitte & Touche Italia S.p.A. (auditing Firm, formerly Arthur Andersen S.p.A.). From 2003 and until 2005 he was CEO of Deloitte & Touche S.p.A. (current auditing firm of the Deloitte Network in Italy) as well as Managing Partner of the Deloitte Network in Italy

From 2010 to 2016, he was Chairman of the Financial Services Technical Committee of Assirevi (Italian Association of Auditors), where he had the opportunity to interact and collaborate with the main Italian Authorities (Bank of Italy and Consob) and professional associations.

From June 2011 to May 2019, he was CEO and Country Managing Partner of Deloitte’s Italian Network and from October 2016 to May 2019 he was also CEO of Deloitte in Central Mediterranean (Italy, Greece and Malta).

Representing Italy and later the Central Mediterranean member firm, he was appointed as a member of DTTL's Global Board of Directors and Corporate Governance Committee, as well as a member of the EMEA Council (European Executive Committee).

As of 1 February 2020, Mr. Ciai is an independent professional having terminated his working activity in Deloitte on 31 January 2020.

He has been Chairman of the Board of Statutory Auditors of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. since 18 May 2020.

Since 29 April 2021, he has been Chairman of the Board of Statutory Auditors of AXA MPS Assicurazioni Danni and AXA MPS Assicurazioni Vita.

Since 22 December 2021, he has been an independent member of ReActive, an AlmavivA Group company.
