Paola Lucantoni

Director pursuant to the combined provisions of the By-Laws, Ministerial Decree 169/2020, Italian Legislative Decree 58/1998 (Consolidated Law on Finance) and the Corporate Governance Code
Paola Lucantoni has been an independent Director of Banca Monte dei Paschi since April 2023 and currently serves as a member of the Risk and Sustainability Committee and the IT and Digitalisation Committee.
On 30 May 2023, she was appointed to the Board of the Italian Banking Association (ABI).
On 14 March 2024, she was appointed by the Minister of Economy and Finance to the Coordination Committee for the Comprehensive Reform of Capital Market Regulations.
She is a Full Professor of Financial Markets Law at the Faculty of Law of the University Tor Vergata in Rome, where she was an Associate Professor since 2017 and a confirmed researcher since 2007. Since 2012, she has also taught Market Law and Regulation in the Department of Applied Economics at Luiss University.
From 30 October 2018 to 30 October 2021, she was Academic Senator, representing the macro-area of Law of the Academic Senate of Tor Vergata.
From September 2016 to June 2017, she was a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics’ Department of Law.
She holds a PhD in Business Law from Rome’s La Sapienza University.
She graduated cum laude in Economics and Business from Luiss University, as well as in Law. She is registered in the Special Order of Lawyers authorised to practice before the Court of Cassation and other Supreme Courts. Additionally, she is a Chartered Accountant and Statutory Auditor and is enrolled in the respective professional registers.
Lucantoni is the Italian member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society for Banking and Financial Law and serves on the editorial boards of a number of Law Reviews. She is the author of two books, co-author of two manuals and has over 80 publications – including international ones – on banking, corporate and financial market topics.
From 2016 to 2020, she was Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Assicurazioni di Roma (AdiR). From April 2021 to April 2023, she was a standing auditor on the Board of Statutory Auditors of Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Roma, Iccrea Group.
