Gianluca Brancadoro
Director
Gianluca Brancadoro has been an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. since 8 September 2026.
He previously served as an Independent Director of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. from April 2023 to April 2026, during which time he also served as Deputy Chair of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Remuneration Committee.
He graduated with honours in Law from La Sapienza University of Rome and was Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Teramo and a practising lawyer in Rome.
He is the author of four monographs and numerous publications on financial and insolvency law.
A partner at Gitti & Partners, a law firm with offices in Rome, Milan and Brescia, he advises international banking, financial and industrial groups in the areas of commercial and corporate law, banking and capital markets law and corporate crisis law, assisting in acquisitions, restructurings and other extraordinary transactions. He conducts litigation, in particular before the Supreme Court of Cassation and in arbitration proceedings, also acting as arbitrator or Board Chairman.
At the request of the ECB, Consob and the Bank of Italy, he has worked on the recovery and restructuring of banks and other financial institutions. He was Extraordinary Commissioner of Banca Popolare di Spoleto and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of CARIGE.
From 2003 to 2005, he was a member of the Ministerial Commission for the reform of Italian company law, and in 2012 he was a member of the Working Table established to reform Italian insolvency law.
From 2005 to 2009, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of IVASS.
From 2014 to 2016, he was Chair of Cassa di Risparmio di Teramo and Cassa di Risparmio di Pescara.
From June 2015 to August 2018, he was Chair of the Board of Statutory Auditors of Società per la Gestione di Attività (S.G.A.), now AMCO S.p.A.
He has served as Chair and Independent Director of leading listed and unlisted companies, including AMTrust Assicurazioni S.p.A. and Fondo Italiano d’Investimento, where he also served as Chair of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.
He is currently Chair of the Board of Directors of Scouting Investments S.p.A., as well as a Director and Head of Scientific Research at CSAIA – Centro Studi Avanzati sull’Intelligenza Artificiale (Centre for Advanced Studies on Artificial Intelligence).
He is a founding member of the “Amici della Biblioteca Angelica” association in Rome.
Mr. Brancadoro was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of the Spoleto Festival Foundation.
